Copy Partition Layout to Other Drives / Disks

When creating RAID arrays, it can be tedious creating the partition structiure accross all the disks, lets see how we can speed the process up...

So, you've got 10 disks and you need to get your partition structure onto all of them.  First, you set up the fidst disk as you would like it (we'll assume you can do this and that it is /dev/sda).

Next, issue the following command:

sfdisk -d /dev/sda | sfdisk /dev/sdb

Now, if you want to be really clever, why not try the following (assuming you have a total of 10 disks and there are no other disks on your system):

sfdisk -d /dev/sda | sfdisk /dev/sd[bcdefghij]

This will copy the partition table to all 9 remaining disk!
